Hydraluron Hyaluronic Acid Serum Review

A few years ago, my dermatologist prescribed a low molecular weight (LMW) hyaluronic acid for facial redness (but didn’t diagnose me with rosacea). The derm said LMW hyaluronic acid might reduce redness.

The LMW has smaller molecules which means the hyaluronic acid will penetrate the skin better. Higher molecular weight is what is typically found in facial serums that have a thicker, gel-like consistency and they don’t penetrate the skin like LMW. At some point, my insurance stopped covering my prescription and now I’m always looking for serums with LMW hyaluronic acid.

Mia’s review: For the price point, I like the Hydraluon hyaluronic acid serum and will continue using it. The texture is a thick gel, very similar to all the other hyaluronic acid (HA) serums I’ve tried. Well, this might be a tad thicker. I also love that it doesn’t contain silicones. There are some HA serums out there by well-known brands but I won’t use them because they contain silicones. It is just a personal preference. I also like that it is paraben-free and fragrance-free.

I apply this on top of the other serums I use and right before night cream/moisturizer. I also experimented with spraying Caudalie Grape Water (pH of 5.75) on top, waiting 30 seconds to let it absorb the moisture, and then applying a night cream/moisturizer. I did this because I read somewhere that the hyaluronic acid would absorb the water and moisturizer the skin better. I didn’t really find that this did anything besides make my face feel wetter.
